Some days feel like this … today, for instance.
Today I travel to a destination that, to me, is unknown. Oh, I know the name. I know the state. I know the general vicinity on the map. But I have never been there. So to me it is the great unknown.
And I have very little information on what awaits me there. Not only is the destination unknown, but the experience is also. All is new to me.
In my younger years, I would have been anxious… my gut would have given me all kinds of grief! 😩 I would have been worried about parking and security and timing and reservations and whether I had is had everything I would need!
But today, although traveling into the great unknown, I am peaceful. I am calm (except for too much caffeine which makes me a little jittery)…
You see, I know who is traveling with me. I know who goes before me, who comes behind me, and who directs my path. And I am resting … in Him.
You guessed it!
The Lord God, Jehovah-Sabaoth, is my companion. I can’t go wrong as long as He is my guide.
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
Proverbs 16:9 NIV
Yes, my daughter is with me, and as human company goes, she is a pretty good traveler. Always has been … Her first trip was at the age of 11 months, and every trip through her growing up years remained as easy.
Now, as an adult trying to find her own way in this world, she is embarking on a journey of discovery and freedom in Christ. And boy, is she ever learning and growing in Him. It’s like someone gave her heavenly growth hormone! 😉
Seriously though, this growth has come at a high price for her. But God never said the Way would be easy. What He did say was “Walk with me.”
Jesus said, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.””
Matthew 11:29-30 NIV
And as we walk with Him, and learn from Him and begin to live like Him, we will be transformed. That is how transformation happens – by the knowing and doing. By being the hands and feet and mouths of Jesus in this world.
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:”
Philippians 2:5 KJV
So as I soar along in this blue sky, above the fluffy white clouds, I again realize that I am living in the favor of God. Favor that is mine because I am his daughter by adoption… and how He longs to show favor to his children! But His children must be ready and willing to receive it. Don’t ask me any more about that. I am on my own journey of discovery: living in Christ and Christ living in me … in the here and now.
I’ll let you know what is discover along the way.
For now, I will enjoy the journey… into the unknown. With my traveling companion and guide… I will rest in Him, trust in Him, and follow Him.
Blessings for your own journey today! I hope your travel goes well, wherever it takes you, and that your companion is the Lord.
